Resident Fire Drill – Voluntary Participation
In conjunction with our inspections this year, the building will be conducting a fire drill. Resident participation is voluntary. Before the alarm sounds, you will hear an announcement over the speaker system that the fire drill is about to begin. **Following this announcement, the fire alarm will sound for approximately 90 seconds.** This will occur at 10AM on Friday, November 6th. After 90 seconds, the alarm will be silenced and another announcement will be made indicating that the audible portion of the fire drill is complete.
Residents who wish to participate are encouraged to take the stairwells and exit on Level 1 to the safe refuge area. Our safe refuge area is located on the MLK Promenade (the grass lawn) near West E Street and the Motor Court.
As this is a drill and the Fire Department will not be on-site to assist, residents who are on the Emergency Assistance List should please inform Management if you are wanting to participate so that we can arrange for Pacific Gate team members to assist with exiting the building. However, during a true emergency, residents who need assistance should exit their unit and go to the nearest stairwell vestibule to await emergency assistance or for the alarm to clear.
After a period of 10 minutes from activation, participating residents will be allowed back in the building. Please note that social distancing protocols must be followed when in the stairwells and safe refuge area. Please maintain a physical distancing of at least six (6) feet separation between you and non-household members.
